Annette’s Place and Lambing Flat Enterprises sit with Cowra Special Needs Services and Grenfell Preschool and Long Day Care Centre in receiving a total of $76,100 funding assistance for projects to improve educational outcomes for children with disability.
Member for Cootamundra, Katrina Hodgkinson has welcomed the announcement.
“The NSW Government’s Intervention Support Program, designed to improve educational opportunities, learning outcomes and personal development of children with disability, will assist with projects to improve educational outcomes right here in the electorate,” she said.
“The Intervention Support Program supports the provision of individual education programs in a range of early childhood settings.
“It’s vital support for children with disability and their families to improve their participation and educational achievement, and prepare them for inclusion into early childhood programs and school.”
The Intervention Support Program is implemented throughout NSW by community-based services and is managed by the Department of Education.
The program has three components:
· Young Children with Disability supports the educational outcomes of young children with disability in early childhood settings
· Children in Residential Care supports out of school hours education programs targeting individual needs of children with disability in residential care
· Non-Schools Organisations supports organisations to improve educational participation and outcomes for children with severe disability in educational settings
