Sunday’s fourth round of Pennants saw some good results for the club with the exception of Grade 2.

The Grade 2 side played at Temora and Temora won 78 shots to 44.
In the individual games Graeme Edgerton lost to Ricky Potter 18-23, Brian Madden lost to Bill Spletter 16-27 and Neal Hines lost to Bruce Lack 10-28.
Young were at home to Quandialla in Grade 4 and defeated Quandialla 83-52.
Joe Chambers defeated John Priestley 25-21, Geoff DeBritt defeated Brian Piefke 23-14 and Cliff Traynor defeated Geoff Edgerton 35-17.
At Cootamundra Ex–Services the Young Grade 5 side recorded a narrow 60–54 win over the home side.
Peter Slater defeated Peter Colvin 20-11, Vic Brown lost to Terry McDonald 13-27 and Ged Hardman defeated Bernie Stephens 27-16.
The Grade 6 side were at home to Stockinbingal and had a 62-45 win.
Frank O’Brien defeated Richie Larsen 23-13, Joe Bargwanna lost to Stephen Larsen 18-21 and Bill Clark defeated Mark Annetts 21-11.
In Grade 7 the composite Bribbaree–Young side had their first win for the season when they defeated Boorowa Recreation Club at Young.
The composite side won on two of the three rinks and the team skipped by Trevor Howell had quite a solid win.
Special thanks to those members of the Women’s Bowling Club who did such a good job catering for the three games – particularly when one game was played in the morning and two in the afternoon.
The club hosted games in the district singles on Saturday.
There was only one game scheduled for the first round and in this game Colin Stokell defeated Justin Nowlan 31-–25.
In the second round games Brian Madden defeated Ron Rosengreen (Cootamundra Country Club) 31-22, Colin Stokell defeated Mark Brownlie 31-9, Terry Ricketts (Harden) defeated Garry Trudgett 31-29, Damien Miller defeated Bevan McAlister (Quandialla) 31-22, Harold Anderson defeated Joe Bargwanna 31-21, Troy Summerfield defeated Brad Lange (Cootamundra Country Club) 31-22, Cliff Traynor defeated Bill Manwaring (Cootamundra Country Club) 31-22 and Peter Watts (Boorowa Ex–Services) defeated Ian Schofield 31-8.
Thanks to those members of the club who gave up their time to act as markers and umpires for these games.
Andrew Hutchison had a bye in the first round of the President’s Reserve Singles played at Harden on Saturday and in the afternoon game he defeated Wally Chater to qualify for the final of this event.
Four games of club singles were completed during the week.
Three games were played on Thursday with Damien Miller defeating Joe Bargwanna 31-15, Stewart Taylor defeating Colin Parker 31-16 and Cliff Traynor defeating John Cooper 31-22.
The game played on Saturday morning saw Bill Maloney defeat Michael Chapman 31-20.
Other non–championship games were played during the week.
The final game in the current Guy Pickering Charity Challenge competition was played on Tuesday night.
The winners from the Tuesday night division (RLOB Tigers) were opposed to the Thursday night division winners (FATBBOTS).
The FATBBOTS team of Craig Watson, Mark Jankovic and Col McIver had a clear–cut win over the Tigers team of Terry Shipp, Larry Marks and John Mulquiney. FATBBOTS won the game 17-10 and won nine of the 12 ends played.
On Wednesday night there were 22 players for mixed bowls.
After a countback the winning team for the night consisted of Julie Alavoine and Vic Brown.
Thursday afternoon saw 22 players taking part.
The highest margin for the afternoon was 27 shots for Brian March and Harold Anderson with the next best score being 17 shots for Steve Williams and Peter Watts.
The jackpot of $200 was not won.
With so many players involved in championship games on Saturday there was a smaller than usual number for jackpot bowls.
Ted Loader and Kevin Porter combined well to win their game by 25 shots – just enough to win the vouchers.
Not far behind them were Michael Pearse and Dave Quigley with a margin of 23 shots.
The other winning team consisted of Max Penfold and Stewart Taylor who won their game by six shots.
The jackpot of $200 went unclaimed.
Men’s bowls will be played on Thursday and Saturday afternoons.
There will be mixed bowls on Wednesday night and Sunday morning.
Individual players will be contacted concerning any championship games to be played this week.
This weekend will see Round 5 of the Pennant competition.
The Grade 2 side will travel to Wagga on Saturday to play against Wagga Rules Grade 1.
On Sunday the Grade 4 side will play Boorowa Ex–Services at Boorowa, Grade 5 will be at home against Boorowa Recreation Club, Grade 6 will travel to Cootamundra Country Club and the Bribbaree–Young Grade 7 side will play Harden at Harden.

All players are advised to check the noticeboard for information for the club’s Two Bowl Triples Tournament to be held in May.
A social night of bowls involving players and supporters from the Young Cherrypickers Rugby League Club was held at the club on Friday night.
Just on 50 players were on the green with others involved with the barbecue.
Most of the players seemed to be enjoying the challenge of a different sport.
