But this year was different.
Now that her 35-year-old daughter Lisa Apps is seven years in remission, Marie said she had a slightly different objective for her 2016 shave.
“I’m more so doing it for others who have the disease this year,” she said.
Over about five days scattered throughout March - the shave for a cure month - Marie raised $700.15 for the Leukemia Foundation.
The shave took place on March 19 outside Big W, thanks to the lovely hairdressers at Scissor Sisters.
Marie would like to thank the South West Slopes Credit Union for their $100 donation, Big W for allowing her to have her head shaved outside their store, and Donges IGA for allowing her to fundraise on their premises over the years.
She would also like to thank the community for donating to her cause and their generous support.
