The award was a certificate of distinction for a top five result in the annual The Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) awards in the category of ‘Most outstanding studio or music school’.
YRSM placed in the top five in NSW for the Preliminary to Grade 6 section, with exam results in 2015 ranking YRSM with the very best music schools and studios in the state.
Tutors Liz Boland, Margaret Edwards, John Willems, Jennie Peady, Penny Ricketts, Matt Ricketts, Rodney Clancy, Stewart Bruce, Yvonne Tredinnick, Leisa Kenny and Jess Charles prepared students for 69 examinations across a wide range of instruments as well as theory and musicianship.
“This is a sensational result”, said YRSM CEO James Cronin. “It comes on the back of many hours of hard work from our staff and students and we are over the moon.”
YRSM is one of four regional conservatoriums, which receive the support of the NSW Department of Education, to figure in the AMEB awards.
“These accolades highlight the importance of regional conservatoriums in NSW. Through strong organisation and the amazing work done by our staff, we are providing a high standard of music education and this award is fantastic recognition”.
2016 examinations are fast approaching, and YRSM will be seeking to build on recent successes.
