It all takes place this weekend at Cranfield Oval from 2pm on Saturday until 10am Sunday, May 8.
The opening ceremony will begin at 2pm with cancer survivors and carers taking the first lap of the oval to kick off the event.
The Candlelight Ceremony of Hope is expected to take place about 7pm on Saturday and the closing ceremony at 9am Sunday.
And just to remind locals and students that the event is happening this weekend, Dougal Bear - the face of Young’s Relay For Life - paid a visit to some of the shire’s schools this week.
Dougal stopped in at five primary schools - Young North Public, Murringo, Monteagle, Wombat and St Mary’s - raising over $500 overall in gold coin donations.
Classes came to a standstill as youngsters ran over to say hello, hug, high-five and even fist bump Dougal.
“As of this morning (Thursday) we have 18 teams registered and 167 participants,” one organiser Trude Blizzard said yesterday.
“The Relay is an open event, visitors are welcome and are encouraged to come and see what it’s all about, especially if you’ve never been before.
“Entry is free, people are encouraged to make a gold coin donation in one of the many Relay For Life donation buckets around the venue and to support teams’ fundraising efforts at the Relay.”
Registrations can be taken on the day, costing $20 and includes a shirt and breakfast.
Entertainment will also be provided throughout the day and night, featuring kids activities, live music and competitions, a jumping castle, oversized chess and connect4 games, outdoor movie, fun run (5km and 10km) at midnight, yoga, sports demonstrations, boot camp and pamper tent.
And not forgetting to keep our relay-goers well nourished, food stalls, coffee, canteen, woodfired pizza and ice cream will be available at some stages or over the entire event.
“It’s not too late to participate,” Trude said.
