Western Power spokesman Paul Entwistle said that around 53,000 customers in the metropolitan area, most of them in the northern suburbs, and 4000 country customers were without power as of 11am.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Marine Gale Warning for the following areas in WA.
Perth Local Waters, Geraldton Coast, Lancelin Coast, Perth Coast, Bunbury Geographe Coast, Leeuwin Coast, Albany Coast, Esperance Coast and Eucla Coast.
There is a strong wind warning for Melville Waters and Gascoyne Coast.
In the Lower West for Saturday it will be cloudy with a very high (near 100%) chance of rain, easing to showers in the afternoon. Possible hail late this afternoon and evening. A thunderstorm likely. Damaging winds possible in the morning and early afternoon. Winds NW 30 to 45 km/h turning W/SW 35 to 50 km/h during the day. Daytime maximum temperatures between 17 and 20.
