Young had the home ground advantage in the Round 6 match which saw the Bears host fourth-placed Trundle Boomers.
After a shift in positions by coaches Peter Campbell and Darcy Ballard the Bears put in their finest performance of the season to overcome the Boomers in a 12-6 victory.
While it was a team effort that got Young over the line in the end, points went to Sarah Foley (3), Kiara Freeman (2) and Mikayla McLean (1). Players player was Kiara Freeman.
Young’s determination seemed contagious as the First Grade Bears took to the field.
The Bears played hard and went into half time in deadlock with the Boomers.
Losing a player to the sin bin proved costly for Burrangong as Trundle took advantage of the undermanned side to run out winners, 34-10.
Josh Logue earned players player, while points went to Jirrah Rasu-Vanua (3), Benny Logue (2) and Brett Campbell (1).
The bears will travel to Peak Hill on Sunday to take on the eighth-placed Peak Hill Roosters.
