The ‘Pickers were beaten 28-4 in a tough game for their first game back in two weeks.
The boys put up a solid fight in the first half going to the break down 6-4 after a try to new boy Blake Bailey in the corner in the 25th minute.
Coaches Steve Woolford and Stuart Norton at the break instructed the boys to get the ball wide to their fast men early in their sets and to tighten their defensive effort.
But it was a different story in the second half with the Brothers side came out showing more in attack and putting on another four tries to put the match beyond the Young boys’ reach.
Coaches Woolford and Norton once again commended the boys with their effort but said a bit of match fitness played a big part in this sides loss.
“It was a very tough opening 15 minutes and it really took a lot out of our boys after having a two-week lay off,” the coaches said.
“It was only at the back end of the second half that the game got away from us.”
With a full compliment of players for next round this side will start to put things together and make their way to the semi finals come September.
Will Canellis and Gus Smith once again were tough up front with Woody Norton, Jesse Corcoran Casey Wall giving their all in the middle.
Jacob Hardy and Nick Schiller were also dangerous every time they got some clean ball and space to move.
It’s not panic stations for these boys yet and with a full squad and some combinations starting to come together this side are going to be very exciting to watch in the next few weeks.
