THERE were mixed results again for the Yabbies on Saturday as First Grade lost against top-of-the-table Hall 29-17, while Second Grade won 29-nil.

In moist conditions Second Grade started the day strongly by dominating possession in the first half.
The home ground advantage played a big role in the victory with the Yabbies knowing which boggy areas of the ground to avoid.
With a lead of 17-nil at half time coach Tom Wills was happy with the side’s progress.
Going into the second half the goal for the Yabbies was to keep ball in hand and put pressure on their defence.
With tries from Col McGovern, Tom Cole and Steve Waples the Yabbies Second Grade side came away with a 29-nil victory.
Steve Waples was best on ground receiving the three coaches points, Tom Cole earned two and Matt Reid one point. Pete Maher got players player.
Coach Tom Wills said he was pleased with the team’s performance.
“It was good to see everyone come together in front of the old boys to produce a season best performance,” he said.
In First Grade the Yabbies failed to fire in the first half which allowed the Bushrangers to get to a 22-5 lead.
With the only points in the first half for the Yabbies coming from a try to Connor McGregor on the wing it looked as if it was going to be a hard day for the Yabbies.
In the second half the Yabbies looked like a different squad with strong forward runs and spectacular backline moves. Tries were scored by Ben Simmons and Calum McCaffery.
The Yabbies won the second half but unfortunately it was not enough with a final score of 29-17.
Best on ground for the Yabbies was Ben Everdell with three points, Dave Crowley with two and Jeshua Smith one point.
Coach Mick Stallard said the side needs to focus on putting in a full match performance in order to start winning games.
“Week in and week out we play one great half of rugby but we let ourselves down in the other half, we just need to lift to that next level,” he said after the match.
“We’re more than capable we just need to make it happen.
“It was great to see a large crowd here today thanks to everyone coming out on a cold day in wet conditions, it really shows how great this club is.”
