With the ‘Pickers’ first set resulting in a knock-on, Temora capitalised and scored in the second minute to lead 6-nil.
With the kickoff, Temora made their way in to the ‘Pickers half only to be stopped by some good defence by the Murrumburrah mauler Jarrod Sharman.
The game went tit-for-tat until Temora scored to the left of the posts, taking the score to 10-nil.
The Dragons again pounced on Young’s mistakes and scored again in the 20th minute to bolt out to a 14-nil lead.
Four minutes later the ‘Pickers scored after a cut out pass from halfback Ross Hewitt went to ground.
Manual Salas picked it up off his feet to score in the corner.
Hewitt converted from out wide to reduce the home side’s advantage to 14-6.
After a scrappy first half, Young started to play good footy.
A towering bomb from Hewitt, which the Dragons fullback fumbled, was scooped up by Shaun Murphy to seemingly score under the sticks.
He was deemed offside and the try was disallowed.
With Jas Brown and Zak Slater leading in defence, Young held on before attacking the line again.
Will Dunn darted over from dummy half only to be held up.
Both teams attacked each other’s line in the second half, but neither were able to put any points on the board.
The score finished at 14-6.
The ‘Pickers thank Casey Wall, Jacob Hardy, Gus Smith and Jesse Corcoran for helping them out.
Players player was a tie between the Murrumburrah mauler Jarrad Sharmon and Shawn Pinky Brown.
