The first half was an even contest with both sides’ defence holding strong in what was Young’s best half of footy all year with discipline and the completion rate high.
Young received a penalty with four minutes left in the first half when Ross Hewitt stepped up and took the two points on offer. Young lead 2-nil at halftime.
Southcity took advantage of Young’s poor start to second half and put on two tries in the first 10 minutes.
Young continued to give away penalties and couldn't get themselves back into the game with Southcity scoring again to take the full-time score 18-two.
