Nineteen members of the Young Saints AFL Club represented Central West AFL (CWAFL) in the junior Australian Football competition at Nowra over the weekend.

Under 14s player Tristan Perceval was called up into the squad that went on to make the semi-finals against Illawarra. CWAFL were defeated 22-12.
In the womens grade the CWAFL side made it to the grand final after a number of wins over the weekend. The girls – captained by Young’s Tymika Perceval – won their Friday night match 36-7, lost to Sapphire Coast 38-2, and won 45-1 to qualify them for the grand final.
CWAFL were defeated 30-17 by Sapphire Coast in the grand final.
“[The Saints] played a game I’ve never seen them play before – their attack and their one per centers, I hope they bring it to our club,” Young club person Michaela Perceval said.
The Under 17 boys also had a relatively successful weekend in qualifying for the semi-finals.
CWAFL lost their first match, took a 61-30 win in their second, and lost to heavyweights Illawarra Storm 79-9 in their third game. They went on to be defeated by Shoalhaven 48-36 in the semi-final.
Young’s Brandon Sanderson kicked two goals in their winning match.
