Corbyn took out first place in Traditional Kata, first in Sumo, second in Weapons Xtreme, second in Xtreme Forms, second in Sword Combat, and fourth in Freestyle Sparring.
It was an enormous achievement for the enthusiastic youngster who competed straight after his battle with illness.
“I don’t like being sick - I miss out on training, playing with my brother and sisters, and sometimes studying -so when I get better I want to stay that way,” he said.
Corbyn’s coach, Mr Shayne Wilson from the Southeast Australian Taekwondo in Cootamundra was elated at the results.
“We congratulate him on his efforts,” he said.
“Corbyn is training hard in all aspects of taekwondo and is now focusing on grading and other upcoming events.”
The tournament was special for Corbyn as his family watched him compete. Corbyn’s mum Christine said he is always in competition with himself, therefore looks for new ways to improve.
“We as parents instill fairness, personal effort, and above all, sportsmanship in our children as they pursuit all their interests in life,” she said.
He now prepares for the NSW State Titles in Sydney next month.
