Despite the Broncos trampling the depleted Rabbitohs in front of 13,111 fans at Sydney's Olympic Stadium, the 20-year-old backrower was praised for his efforts by head coach Michael Maguire who described Crichton’s presence as a positive for the team.
"Really proud to see a young man whose gone through everything he’s gone through to get his opportunity in First Grade,” Maguire said.
“He's had hurdle after hurdle to get himself out on the field and to see him go out there I thought he performed really well for us and the boys obviously really enjoyed having him there too, so one of many."
In the Fujitsu Post-Match Reaction interview the ex Cherrypicker and Yabby expressed his excitement at his big moment.
“It was awesome just to finally get my first game,” he said.
“It’s been a long road coming here and to get out here and across the white line it just felt awesome.
“It was quick, physical, everything I thought it’d be...I felt like I handled it right and felt pretty good out there.”
He now looks forward to having another crack with the Rabbitohs against Manly on Monday night.
