The Yabbies will host ADFA Rugby Club on Saturday in the club’s last home game of the season, which will see four grades take to the field.
“The 16s and 18s are playing on the day as well so it’ll be a full day of football,” Williams said.
It’s the first time Young has played the 11th-placed ADFAs who Williams predicts to be a strong side.
Despite the wet weather continuing to cause havoc to training schedules, the captain-coach said the Yabbies have made alternate training arrangements ahead of the match which they’ll approach with the same tactic as any other week.
“We just want to do the same as we’ve done all year – a simple game plan, support each other on the field and work for the one next to you,” Williams said.
He said a win would make it five wins to eight losses for First Grade – an effort he’d be pleased with in what says has been a rebuilding season.
“A win would give us all a high to finish on a positive note,” he said.
“It’s been a rebuilding season with a new team that’s had a new structure and it’d be a positive heading into next year.”
Reserve Grade also have their eyes on a win that would secure them a position in the finals. The local side has been in winning form of late and feel confident another win is just around the corner against bottom-of-the-table ADFA.
Williams wished his fellow grade all the best, and encourages the community to get behind the club and show their support to the boys as they make their mark on the John I Dent Cup competition.
“Good luck, I’m sure they’ll get into the finals the way they’re playing,” he said.
The senior grades will kick off at 1.30pm when Reserve Grade takes to the field, followed by First Grade at 3pm. Celebrations will continue back at the Aussie Hotel as players and supporters celebrate what has been a big year for the club.
