Last week the 23-year-old claimed his second World Champion title after taking out the 2016 International Clay Target Shooting Federation World Down The Line (DTL) Championships in Ireland.

Schiller, who has competed since he was 15 years old, shot a score of 897/900 to become the 12^th DTL World Champion.

Furthermore, the victory was sweetened in doubling as a history-making moment in Schiller being the first individual to win two world titles in the sport.

“It was always a goal of mine, but coming over here and competing against the world’s best – including three past world champions – you just don’t think it would or could ever happen,” Schiller said.

This year the championships were held over three days - July 21 to 23 – featuring over 450 of the world’s best shooters from Ireland, North Ireland England, Wales, France, South Africa, New Zealand, Scotland, Tahiti and Australia.

While the championships are open to all competitors, Schiller was selected to represent the Australian Open Shooting Team after qualifying at the Australian Nationals back in April.

Last time he claimed a world title was in Wales when he was named 2012 Junior World DTL Champion with a score of 889/900.

To make the moment even more memorable, Schiller was accompanied by his younger sister, Kate, this year who also competed in the championships. She placed sixth in her category in another fantastic outcome.

The siblings and their family have since been enjoying a well-earned break, visiting the sights of Ireland in what they described as a great trip.
