The first half saw both sides making plenty of errors due to the muddy conditions.

Young attacked Kangaroos’ line in the first half, building pressure and getting repeat sets, but credit went to Roos’ defence who held the ‘Pickers out.

It was the Kangaroos who scored first, right on halftime through a kick off the scrum that Young failed to react. Kangaroos lead 6-nil at halftime.

After a talk at halftime the ‘Pickers knew whoever comes out strong and completes their sets will come away with the win.

The ‘Pickers came out and scored in the second set of the half through a nice short ball from Jakey Norton who put Jason Brown through to score out wide.

‘Pickers failed to convert and the Kangaroos led 6-4.

For the next 15 minutes the ‘Roos and the ‘Pickers were defending strongly until Young finally got some good field position and Steve Shipp put a cross field kick which found the mark with the flying Manual Salas to put it down in the corner.

The ‘Pickers failed to covert but lead 8-6.

The final 10 minutes was mostly Kangaroos with the ‘Pickers giving away a few penalties, but their defence held on and Young took their third win in row to keep their finals hopes alive.

The ‘Pickers have a big game this week against ladder leaders Gundagai Tigers, so be sure to get down to Alfred Oval and cheer them on in what should be another great game of footy.
