The sun actually shined on all the ladies for a while and the morning was enjoyed by all who attended. Lunch was completed and then Rosemary Walter, president of the South Western District, got down to business and started the presentation.
First up the No 4 Pennant Flag was presented to the Pennant team from Young Women’s Bowling Club.
The team consisted of Elsie Hines, Heather Bailey, Sheila Traynor, Margaret Gailey, Margo Parker, Kate Cooper, Judith Mulligan, Judy Watson and Reserves Margaret Glasheen and Julie Alavoine.
Elsie Hines accepted the award for the District Mixed Pairs runner-up with husband Geoff who couldn’t be there on the day.
District Senior Fours was won by Young team of Elsie Hines Margaret Gailey, Kate Cooper and Heather Bailey, and the District Open Pairs was won by Young’s Elsie Hines and Margo Parker.
Kate Cooper and June Brown won runner-up District Senior Pairs and winner of the District Open Singles was Elsie Hines.
Congratulations to all who won from the Young Women’s Bowling Club.
Young Women’s Bowling Club has had a great year. The competition was excellent and congratulations goes to all the ladies who entered the various District competitions.
You keep the flag flying for a sport that encourages their players at every turn and keeps the codes of sportsmanship alive and well to pass on to the next generation of bowlers.
New members welcome
We have some very good players at Young Women’s Bowling Club but each and every one of them would be more than happy to give their time to help new bowlers get started.
Anyone interested is invited to come along on any social day and join in. clothes are smart casual, shoes need to have a flat sole and bowls are available at the clubhouse.
