Quilts were entered in six different sections by wonderful quilters.
Some were entered in from interstate visitors who supported the fundraising event by paying an entry fee and assisting by protecting and explaining their quilts to the large number of visitors from far and wide.
The Community of Artists of Young had a hanging system placed around town hall which made the hanging of the quilts much easier.
It helped to display them to their best advantage and the Lions Club would like to thank them for their assistance.
Jenny Bowker who showed her quilts from “The Tentmakers of Cairo” two years ago opened this year’s show.
She presented a selection of 18 quilts made in “The Modern Movement” way of quilting.
The Lions club of Young would like to thank Jenny and her Modern Quilting Movement Group for their generosity and support.
First prize in the raffle, made by Lions Club member Jenny Tate and quilted by Ian Stewart of Young, drew a lot of interest.
As did the second prize of a Accu cutter and third prize of a fabric parcel.
The raffle prizes were eagerly accepted by the winners.
The winners of the six quilt sections were also very pleased.
The Lions Club challenge quilt “Use Our Colours” drew 11 entries which were of great interest to the visitors.
So much so that there is a list of people interested in next year’s challenge.
The 2017 challenge quilt is “Stars, any star, any size, any shape, but in masculine colours in a 48 inch square quilt.”
The Lions Club would like to thank everybody who helped for the weekend, the quilters who trusted their quilts to them, the council for the reduced cost of hiring the hall, all their sponsors especially Robynette Fabrics, Poppas Fudge Factory and IGA.
The plans for the 2017 Quilt Show are already underway with the date set for May 20-21.
Entries for the 2017 Quilt Show are welcome now.
