Members please note – Due to Phil Cartwright’s decision to step down from the position of Young Golf Club Professional, all Pro Shop accounts and credits will need to be squared up by the second week in September 2016. Members wanting goods ordered will need to have those orders to Phil by August 23.

Sunday, August 7 will be the Holden Scramble sponsored by Harden Geelan Holden. Teams of four (with club handicaps) at the local level with the best team qualifying to the regional final in October in Canberra. We need a minimum of 48 players in order to get a team to qualify for the regional final.

Sunday, July 31 - Medley Stableford: Gumtree Nursery Trophies – 1st - Jarrod Harding 41 points, 2nd - Steve Sell 39 points, from Bailey Scott-Miller 38 points and Steve Dewar 37 points. Balls went down to 37 points.
Young Social Golf Club: 9 Holes Medley Stroke – 1st - Peter Whye 33 nett, 2nd - Jacko Anderson 33 nett, 3rd - Simon Murray 33 nett. Bradman's to Rob Harvey.
Young bowling Club
There was a very good attendance on Saturday with thirty two players participating.
The games were played using a different format and some special prizes were on offer with teams being drawn from the hat irrespective of their scores.
In terms of actual results the winning teams were: Albert Carter and Geoff DeBritt (13 shots), Michael Smithers and Mark Anderson (9 shots), Greg Woods and Colin Stokell (5 shots), Steve Williams and Ian Schofield (4 shots), Kevin Bryant and Rod Cummings (4 shots), Trevor Howell and Tim Carpenter (3 shots), Stewart Taylor and John Cooper (2 shots) and Terry Holmes and Joe Bargwanna (2 shots).
A small number on Sunday with just eight players taking part.
Joe Hennock and Barry Close had the best result for the morning with a score of 14 points.
On Thursday Tony Ruhl and Denis Rosen had the highest winning margin for the day when they won their game by 12 shots.
The jackpot was not won.
The State Pennant finals were played over the weekend with the finals being played yesterday.
None of the sides from Zone 8 progressed beyond the sectional games.
In Grade 1 Wagga Rules lost all three sectional games but it should be noted that the team skipped by Dave Quigley won all three games.
In their sectional games the Temora Grade 2 side had one very good win, a loss by 1 shot to the section winners and a loss by 4 shots.
For Grade 3 North Albury had a loss (to the sectional winners), a draw and a good win.
In Grade 4 Darlington point lost all three games and for Grade 5 the Tumbarumba side’s best result was a draw.
After winning their first two games, Junee Grade 6 side lost by 3 shots to Kembla Heights who won the section with three wins.
In Grade 7 the Cootamundra Ex–Services side lost their three games.
On July 25, Damien Miller was part of the NSW Greenkeepers side playing in their annual match against the NSW Legends at Bar Beach in Newcastle.
Well done to the Greenkeepers side on winning the match 145–107, their first win since 2012.
Congratulations to the eight players from the club who have been selected to represent the South Western district in the President’s Cup at Wagga on 13th and 14th August.
Play this week starts Thursday. Normal play on Saturday afternoon.
Sunday morning bowls will start at 9.30 am.
Saturday and Sunday the club will host the Zone 8 Pairs Championships. This event was postponed in mid-July due to weathe.

Darts
Cobras where caught on the back foot this week as Jan said no, took the first three games. Cobras found what was need to take victory 7-6. Thunders v Empires, playing with only three players. Thunders started off bad as Empires jump out 5-1 before thunders hit back to do clean sweep through doubles. Thunders came home to win 7-6
Bling Blings underestimated the Yabbies. Blings strolled ahead in singles until Yabbies turned it around, William Coulter taking out 98 peg. Unfortunately bling snuck over the line 7-6
Steamers verse Beers and Spears. Shannon Genge show some great form in singles throwing his first 180 for year. Beers taking victory 10-2. Thumpers made the Journey out to face Wombat Warriors. Warriors clean up 9-3. Cri verse Redbacks. Cri clean up 7-2.
Months won on forfeit.
