On behalf of the Hospital Auxiliary I thank you for the opportunity, through your paper, to thank the community of Young for their generous support of our Soup Day.

We would like to thank the Witness, the VIC, 2LF, the Community Radio and O’Reilly’s Printing for help with publicity and also businesses who allowed us to display posters. Thanks also to businesses who donated to the raffle – Annie B’s Full House, Brian Maroney Electrical and IGA. Thanks also to IGA for allowing us to sell raffle tickets there and Sunnyside Bakery for donating towards the lunch.

It was a huge social and financial success thanks to the public who attended and also purchased raffle tickets.

Almost 150 people purchased lunch and were able to sit and relax, talking with friends in the Town Hall, which proved to be a great venue again.

A huge thank you must go to our small band of Auxiliary members who cooked with love for the occasion.

There was a wide variety of soups to choose from and the delicious array of slices and cakes would make any mouth water!  

Many of our members baked several slices as well as soups, besides setting up the hall..

The other lovely thing was that several people who are not members of the Auxiliary also gave us vegies or cooked slices and soups which they generously brought along to share.

I was delighted with the day, and just wanted to thank everyone for their support.

All proceeds will be used to buy equipment for our hospital.

An amazing event is coming to the Riverina on Saturday, August 20, something which has never been seen here before.

The Cavalcade of History and Fashion is presenting their Luxury and Leisure Parade 1890 – 1960 at the Wagga Wagga Civic Theatre.

This unique and highly entertaining event is a fundraiser for the Wagga Women’s Health Centre (WWHC) and rarely leaves the metropolitan areas of the east coast.

It is truly an achievement for the Women’s Health Centre.

The WWHC provides services to women not only in Wagga, but across the Riverina. Clients often travel to Wagga to utilise our services and others make contact by phone and by internet.

The evening commences at 6:30 pm, with a cocktail event and the Parade takes to the stage and runway at 7:30 pm.

This is an event which has something for all with beautiful and fully restored garments across the centuries.

We wanted this event to be available to all in the Riverina.

This is a fundraiser for a great cause with tickets costing $75 and include the cocktail event – finger food, a drink, and of course the parade.

For those who would need to travel to Wagga for the event, maybe you could get a party together and hire a bus - an added community-building bonus for the night.
