The new program, now under the Hilltops banner, is currently being organised for the 2016/2017 year. A new single Hilltops visitor website and a Hilltops Region visitor guide are planned. More entrants in the 2016 National Cherry Festival Queen and King competition were welcomed at the festival committee meeting on Wednesday. There is still time for more entrants to join the contest. If you are passionate about a local cause and want to enjoy the contest experience please contact us at the Visitor Centre.
For the first time in 144 years there will be no annual Young Show this year. But, Young Show Society plan a spectacular Spring Ball in the newly restored Main Pavilion at Young Showground. The formal event will be held on September 24, with announcement of the winner of the Showgirl competition, a two course meal, live band ‘Blazing Boots’, live auction and bar facilities.
The National Cherry Festival Committee is discussing ways to help entrants in the festival parade create a carnival atmosphere and colourful display. Workshops to assist with creative ideas and execution are under discussion.
Young Golf Club is staging the popular Young Cherry Festival Veterans 18th annual Week of Golf on November 13-18. The club is looking for golfers from throughout NSW to complete their entry arrangements.\
There are a number of exciting Hilltops event over the coming months and now is a great time to list them in your diary. The Harden Kite Festival will be conducted from 11am to 5pm on Saturday, October 15. The 20th Boorowa Irish Woolfest will be held on Sunday, October 2. The Sergeant Parry Memorial Day takes place at Jugiong on November 19 and the 67th Young’s National Cherry Festival is scheduled for December 2, 3 and 4.
The Visitor Centre is located in the old railway station building in Anderson Park where you can call in for a town map, upcoming events listings and a cinema program. We have fliers promoting the town’s many attractions, eateries, and accommodation, plus souvenirs and local wine and produce.
