Member for Cootamundra Katrina Hodgkinson has announced the State government will invest a total of $666,392 for four projects at public reserves in the Young district under the Public Reserves Management Fund Program (PRMF).
“I am pleased to announce these projects which are for some of our most valued public spaces in the Young district,” Katrina said.
“This funding is for maintenance works and general upgrades to look after our local Trust buildings and reserves so that the community can continue to enjoy these areas for many years to come.”
Bill Daly, chairman of the Young Showground Trust is excited by the announcement.
“It is exciting news for Young as well as the Trust,” Bill said.
“After 10 years of hard work attempting to get funding, we’ve finally gained a wonderful $600,00 to rebuild the grandstand,” he said.
Katrina said the four projects in the Young region under the 2016/17 PRMF include:
- $600,000 for upgrade of the grandstand at the Young Showground to current building standards;
- $38,092 for repairs at the Young Community Arts Centre;
- $17,000 for earth works to prevent erosion at the Tipperary Gully Recreational Reserve; and
- $11,300 for repairs and painting of the Bribbaree Memorial Hall.
“Applications were very strong this year, so the success we’ve had under this program for the Young area is a result of the high-quality of submissions put forward by the relevant management groups,” Katrina said.
Katrina said there are a total of 22 successful projects throughout the Cootamundra electorate totalling more than $1.4 million.
“This program is yet another example of the State government’s commitment to the cultural, sporting, economic and recreational life of communities across New South Wales.” Katrina said.
