Bright yellow sunflowers are appearing around Young promoting the Young Theatre Company’s production of “Calendar Girls”. The play, said to be even better than the movie, features some of Young’s most experienced actors and will be presented on September 16, 17, 22, 23 and 24. Young’s own calendar is soon to be released featuring cast and friends, with all funds to Hilltops CanAssist.
Wombat Hotel is the setting for another Wombat Bush Poets gathering this Sunday at 7pm. Enjoy a night out listening to bush poetry and yarns, or give your own rendition. Everyone is welcome and musicians are invited to bring along their instruments.
An exhibition showcasing the works of Grenfell artist Kathleen McCue officially opens at Burrangong Gallery on September 3 at 11am. Take a journey of discovery through layers of paint on canvas and rusted patina on steel sculptures. The exhibition will be open daily for the following six weeks. A collection of artworks by local artist Megan Holt will also be displayed at Kettle and Grain Café from September 3.
Stall holders offering a big range of items will congregate at the Uniting Church Hall and grounds on Saturday, September 10, for the Uniting Church Markets.
Teams of eight are being sought for the Choir of the Southern Cross Trivia Night on Saturday, September 10, at Young Bowling Club. The sporting spotlight will be on Young in October with 2SM fishing and boating program Hi-Tide and Len Pascoe Sports Entertainment in town for the 30th Anniversary Dinner of the Young Bowling Club Fishing Club. Current and former members of the club and all those interested are invited to attend the dinner on October 15. A family friendly fun day promoting recreational fishing will follow on the Sunday.
