Year 11 students Ashleigh Bennett, Andrew De La Torre, Eliza Hetherington, James Smithers, Will Arthur, Layelle Arja, Adam Brown, Tessa Long, Hassan Abbas, Max Debritt, Casey King, Adelle Berry and Lewis Slade are the 2016 sub-prefects.
They will help with all of the leadership responsibilities at the school throughout Term 3, allowing the Year 12 students to focus on their studies.
Prefect Coordinator, Pammie McCloy, said the sub-prefects play an important role in the school and it is the perfect opportunity for them to refine their leadership qualities.
“It’s like our leadership apprentice program,” Pammie said.
“It gives the students a great chance to develop their leadership skills with the support of the current leadership team.
“At the end of the term, the sub-prefects will present a speech to fellow students about why they would make a good school leader.
“A vote then takes place and at the Year 12 Graduation, the 2017 leadership team is announced,” she said.
The leadership team consists of school captains, vice captains and prefects.
They all play a pivotal role in the running of the school.
School Principal, Keith Duran, interviews all of the leadership team.
He takes the appointment of each individual on that team very seriously.
“These students set the tone for our school,” Principal Duran said.
“I believe being a part of the team is a great privilege.
“Every student matters and I often look to these leaders to ensure they are upholding the values of our school and supporting all of their peers,” he said.
This year’s Leadership Team included Austin McFeeters (vice captain), Freya Steele (prefect), Nenad Jelinek (captain), Lizzie Butt (prefect), Elliott Dodd (prefect), Lucy Hall (captain), Michaela Schiller (vice captain) and Jade Nolan (prefect).
