And first to respond are the state’s police, ambulance and firefighters, who are stepping up to combat the shortfall.
The nation’s emergency services are battling it out to see who can give the most blood throughout the cold season, with more than 7000 donations already made across the country.
As of one week ago, NSW Police were in second place on 550 donations, with Victoria Police on 557.
Young Police are doing their part to help the cause as depicted by Senior Constable Joseph Zuzek (see above).
The Emergency Services Challenge is part of the Blood Service’s Red25 program.
It is a unique giving program uniting with groups and organisations around Australia to save lives through blood donation.
