Karen Viggers, an award-winning best-selling author who has a natural affinity with the Australian bush, will host a session “Finding stories in Australian Landscapes” at the Young Library next Monday commencing at 2pm.

Karen writes contemporary fiction, including novels “The Stranding”, “The Lightkeeper’s Wife” and “The Grass Castle”.
A wildlife veterinarian who has worked and travelled in many remote parts of Australia, Karen writes fiction set in Australian landscapes.
Her books often deal with contentious issues including choices at the end of life, whale rescue, kangaroo culling and scientific research on animals.
Following several successful author visits, the library has collected a range of new books available to members.
“Same Chef, Different Day” by Danuta Hadusek is the history of a chef’s work over many decades at the Cowra Ex-Services Club.
“Beneath the Baobab Tree” is a compilation of stories of volunteer work with the underprivileged while “The Fighter” is the latest by Arnold Zable.
“Depression, F*** Depression”, is a self-help memoir written by Jeremy Godwin and donated to the Library following his recent presentation.
Recent Council mergers resulted in a name change only. The same great service and resources are still available.

These acquisitions are a welcome addition to a diverse range already held in the collection.
Young Library membership benefits include access to library resources in print, audiovisual and online.
Staff at all Hilltops branches invite enquiries from all residents wishing to join the Library.

“Members will get the same great service and resources which are still available at all former South-West Regional Library branches.
The next Young Library presentation will be held later in September, featuring a former local who has written a children’s book.
This will be of interest to parents, carers and grandparents, and is an opportunity to hear from a published author.
