They enjoyed delicious foods, great company, a well decorated venue in a beautiful scenic setting.
Winter did not dim the gathering which was enjoyed by all.
The activity for October is the first bus trip for a day in Griffith at the Citrus Festival.
If this is successful, the association will plan future trips to take advantage of festivals and attractions.
Tina and Maria have worked together on the first bus trip which will leave Sunday, October 16, at 7am from the Young Railway on Wilkinsons Bus Service.
The program will include a drive through the town of Griffith, meeting with another multicultural group for a picnic brunch in Memorial Park, visiting one open garden, one winery and free time in the township to explore the citrus sculptures, ending at 4pm.
At the July meeting, the association were fortunate to have Glen Harper, Environmental Health Officer for Hilltops Council to deliver the Food Safety Matters Workshop which is important for members as food is very much a part of the activities.
Fifteen members attended and have received certificates with a repeat workshop at a later date.
Young and District Multicultural Association members who are volunteering for Young North Primary School, having attended their working with children clearance, will be attending the school from September.
Young High School has also approached YADMA to create mutual partnership inviting us to their Open Day, and planning participation in the annual celebration.
In partnership with the Young Garden Club, YADMA members Michael Mercer, Helenie Carmody, Kevin and Marilyn Stemm had a working bee to plant and maintain Jasper Hall Gardens for the benefit of the aged community at the Southern Cross Retirement Village.
A donation of well made rose stakes by the Young Men's Shed was appreciated as are the continued discounts from Mitre 10.
The next monthly meeting is September 13, at 2pm.
Those travelling to Griffith are required to pay $30 fare by this date and be financial members. Membership is $10 individual or $15 family.
