The claim is estimated at $1.765 million under the Flood Disaster Relief Funding for Upper Lachlan program.
The assistance was announced by Minister for Justice Michael Keenan and NSW Deputy Premier, Troy Grant.
It is provided under Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA).
The funding is to go towards assisting Council with repairing the damaged road network and associated infrastructure and public assets.
Last weekend’s heavy rains and flooding across much of the Hilltops Region will also require assessment and further application for assistance.
A number of people were evacuated from their homes as flood waters rose in the Boorowa area.
Also, a number of livestock perished in the event.
SES reported one flood rescue from a car driven into flood waters in the western area of the Council region.
Large scale erosion and scouring damage has occurred at various locations across the Hilltops road network.
Council crews worked long hours over the weekend to monitor the impacts of the heavy rain.
This was particularly important on Friday night and Saturday morning when major routes were closed.
Important roads including the Lachlan Valley Way, Olympic Highway and Murringo Road were closed to traffic due to flood waters.
And of course, a big thankyou to our volunteers in the SES.
They did a great job assisting and monitoring the event over the weekend.
