Ms Gibson has refused to disclose whether she was paid for participating in the explosive interview with host Tara Brown in June last year.
And the Nine Network has repeatedly said payments to interviewees are confidential, refusing to confirm or deny ongoing speculation. It was rumoured last year that Ms Gibson was paid as much as $45,000 to appear.
But documents obtained by Fairfax Media now reveal the broadcaster paid her much more for the exclusive interview. Invoices and remittance advice show Nine made two separate payments each of $37,500 to Ms Gibson's lawyers in July 2015 under the reference, '60 Minutes – Belle Gibson interview'.
The revelations of Ms Gibson's payout from Nine's chequebook journalism will likely anger thousands who signed a petition titled - 'Belle Gibson is still profiting off faking cancer'.
More than 11,200 people signed the online petition amid last year's mounting speculation Ms Gibson was paid by 60 Minutes, and called for the money to be handed over to cancer research instead.
During Ms Gibson's interview, she claimed she was "not trying to get away with anything" and wanted to be transparent, before going on to tell the host, "I have lost everything".
But Ms Gibson remained unrepentant and has never apologised, despite claiming to have helped "countless people", including cancer patients, dump conventional medicine.
The conwoman's life story first started to unravel three months before the 60 Minutes appearance, when Fairfax Media exposed that she had stolen thousands of dollars her company raised for charity through multiple fundraising appeals.
The revelations cast serious doubt over her claims of beating terminal brain cancer through healthy living, on which she built a commercial empire that included a highly acclaimed recipe book, The Whole Pantry, and a top-rating smartphone app.
Eventually, she admitted her cancer diagnosis. "No … None of it's true," she told the Australian Women's Weekly.
Ms Gibson is now facing a landmark Consumer Affairs case in the Federal Court, and up to $1 million in penalties, for profiting off her false cancer claims and defrauding charities through her scam that misled the terminally ill and fooled multinational companies, Apple and Penguin Publishing.
The consumer watchdog is using Ms Gibson's medical records, media appearances, and various social media posts from The Whole Pantry accounts as part of its evidence against her.
When asked whether Ms Gibson had been paid to appear on 60 Minutes, Channel Nine has previously said it was the network's policy "not to disclose whether any guests have or have not been paid for their involvement".
