Crews filled and loaded upwards of 80 sand bags at Rockdale Road, Young in response to a minor flooding call-out from an alarmed Koorawatha resident.
Local SES Controller, Colleen Clancy, said the resident was concerned their low-lying house would be damaged by a rising creek.
“We had a call-out at Bendick Murrell today (Wednesday) providing sandbags, and when we got back to Young we got another call to assist at Koorawatha,” Colleen said. “We’ve also had a call-out to a flood rescue for someone who’d driven through a flooded road.”
Overall Colleen said the SES have been lucky in only receiving around a dozen call-outs over the winter period for roof damage and minor flooding.
“The important message is for people to not drive or walk through flood waters - if the road is flooded, forget it,” she said.
For assistance, call SES on 132 500.
