He urged road users to make smart decisions when travelling, such as not exceeding your driving capabilities and taking regular rest stops.
“Stay safe on the roads and have a fatality free school holidays, and we wish everyone safe travels to and from their destinations,” Sergeant Prentice said. “Ensure that you’ve had plenty of rest prior to heading out on your trip, have designated drivers if you’re going to be consuming alcohol and ensure everyone’s secured in the vehicle.”
He also reminds motorists to ensure your vehicle is of roadworthy condition – in particular tires and windscreen wiper blades. Highway patrol will be out in force monitoring speeding motorists and conducting roadside alcohol and drug testing over the October long weekend with Operation Slow Down.
