Members of the Young & Region Farmers Market have opted to continue with their Saturday markets for the remainder of the year. Organisers had planned to revert to a twilight format like last year, but will remain at Anderson Park on Saturdays with an earlier Daylight Savings timeslot of 8am to 11am through to December. You’ll find the markets in Anderson Park tomorrow with a range of fresh produce and home baked food to temp the tastebuds as well as plants, goat’s milk products and wine.

A rich collection of prints and etchings from artists across the region will feature in the next Burrangong Art Gallery exhibition presented by the Young Society of Artists. Guests artists are tutors and students from TAFE NSW Riverina Institute at Temora and Wagga. The exhibition opens at 11am on Saturday with morning tea on the platform. Everyone is welcome to attend. The exhibition follows on from the very popular Kathleen e McCue sculpture and bold floral exhibition and will be open daily until November 19.
The Hilltops Region is being showcased this weekend at the Murrumbateman Field Days which is now in its 37th year. Hilltops is one of over 450 exhibitors taking part in this prominent event that attracts big crowds. Hilltops destinations and produce will also be promoted in the upcoming Canberra Home & Leisure Show from October 21-23.
The countdown for the 67th National Cherry Festival is well underway with less than 50 days to go. Interest in the December 2,3 and 4 event is building with visitors planning to make Young their destination, and prospective stall holders, parade entrants and other performers keen to make the festival a stand out success.
Spring always sparks interest in open garden schemes and it’s good to note that the CanAssist Garden Wander takes place on October 23. Two gardens feature this year and organisers are catering with basket sandwiches, cakes and slice. The gardens are open from 10am to 3.30pm, entry is $5 and directions will be up at the Lynch Street round-about on the day.
