Two heats of the AGL Energy Ambos Stock Feeds Tabcorp Park Menangle Country Series carrying total prizemoney of $10,000 per race will head the programme with the opening race of the night being heat one. As expected a very strong field has been nominated for the 1720 sprint and there are numerous chances that include the promising local pacer Regal Ashes .
This race looks a little harder for the Peter Schiller trained pacer who has won seven races including his last start win on this track before winning at Wagga.
Pole marker Victoria Pass continues to race consistently with four seconds from his last four starts, his last win being at Bathurst over a similar distance to this.
Kiama Surtra is a Young track winner and is well drawn to lead while Jimmy Jasper is close to a win with Panther Star being the other danger for Steve Jones and Emma Turnbull.
Race two is over 2100 metres and again has a strong and competitive field engaged. Recent form would suggest that the David Kennedy trained Rocknchaton to be driven by Blake Jones should start favourite following some handy runs of late including a third at Wagga after sitting four wide at the bell three starts back.
Our Pepperjack broke through for a win last start at Wagga last Friday for Ellen Bartley and could continue that form while Confederate Girl ran third at Parkes last Sunday in a race full of incidents which resulted in a minor protest being upheld.
The second $10,000 heat will be race three with $25,000 final to be held at Menangle on October 30. Canberra trainer Frank O'Sullivan has be a regular competitor in these type of races and Monivae should be the pacemaker for the 1720 metre dash.
Zodiac Dream is a last start Dubbo winner when sent out a $1.30 favourite and the draw here would suggest another forward showing.
Trainer and driver Amanda Turnbull has recent Menangle winner Chumlee engaged in this race and his 1:54.3 winning mile rate on a very fast track could see him finishing stroingly over the concluding stages of the race.
The locally trained Shirvanee faces his biggest test in this race following a very good second here last meeting in which the winner rated 1:57.3.
With gate five and a couple of fast beginners inside him, lady luck will play a major part in the eventual outcome.
The fast class performers take to the track in race four and the 2100 metre journey should suit this competitive eight horse field.
Try Dreamin has the draw to lead and should set a genuine pace from the getgo.
Although not winning since July at Parkes, the free going chestnut pacer could surprise if left alone in front.
Diamante Maravu ran his best race for some time at Wagga last week after sitting behind the leader and a repeat of that run could see the nine year old finish in the placings once again.
Missed By Red is a last start winner on this track rating 1:59.5 and could be fighting out the finish once again together with another last start Young winner in OK Alright.
It should be the race of the nigh for the C3 to C5/C6 rated pacers who have won a total of 101 races between them, not a bad effort. (Papa Camelot winning the most with a massive total of 21 wins from 185 starts!).
Race five on the programme is a ladyship pace for the fillies and mares over 1720 metre with a capacity field to face the starter.
Bill Trembath has the polemarker Gotta Bewitched racing well at the mmoment with two eye catching seconds to her credit at Young and Wagga and looks to be the leader here.
She raced outside the leader at Wagga with the eventual winner Our Pepperjack rating 1:58.0.
