At 63, Isabelle Huppert seems to be an actor without any real limits. To say that is not the same as trotting out the old chestnut "she could do anything" because that almost certainly isn't true: it's unlikely she'd shine as a Transformer, for example. What she does with each role, however, is so singular that it is impossible to imagine that anyone else would have done what she did or do anything half as interesting the future: it's as if she gets into a character and shuts the door behind her. That's hers now, whatever it is. And because she extends her reach so far every time, it's never what you might have imagined.
