The Josh Powderly trained Keys To Stonebridge, driven by Rodney Blythe was a winner at Temora and Matt McCaffery, together with dad Greg and mum Beryl were finally rewarded for their devotion to duty in winning at Parkes with the New Zealand import Kynsna.
The week finished with Arrived In Time winning his fourth race at Griffith under the guidance of Nic Dewar.
Glenn Wilmot won at Griffith with Always Rockin on Melbourne Cup day but unfortunately was unsuccessful in the final last Saturday night behind the first starter Corbie Jolt driven by Blake Jones.
With racing continuing over coming weeks, trainers and owners will be looking toward the forthcoming 2016 Young Cherry Festival Cup meeting to be held on Friday night, November 25 at the Young Paceway.
The feature race will carry in excess of $12,000 in total prizemoney.
Last year’s event attracted a large crowd to the Young track and the feature race certainly had spectators on their toes with favourite Oh I Am The One for Steve Turnbull and Uncle Lile for Anthony Frisby fighting out the finish ahead of Ruato Bay and Our Santa Catalina.
The winning mile rate of 1:59.4 was just outside the current record for the 2100 metres that was set by Beetson (1:58.4).
The record was set on February 27, 2014.
