The fifth game of the Men’s Triples was played on Thursday morning and this saw the conclusion of a very successful Cherry Festival Bowls Carnival.

A Calcutta was held on the Monday night before play started in this tournament and was an enjoyable night for those in attendance. Special thanks to Joe Bargwanna for his excellent work as auctioneer and to Tom Preston for his record keeping.
With forty-two teams the greens were full with many players regular participants and a sprinkling of new faces.
Players travelled from as far away as Lithgow and Bega and Eden.
Four teams won their five games and the winners with a margin of 74 shots were Geoff Holt, Chris Grimson (Boorowa) and Pedro Rudd (Wagga). Second place went to the Bega combination of Tony Hanscombe, Lynton Riddell and Howard Blacker with a margin of 65 shots.
Peter Hattam (Narooma), John Heidtmann (Kiama) and Rick Malley (Windang) finished in third place with a 56 shot margin and just behind them were Les Fanning, David Ward and Dave Quigley with a margin of 47 shots.
Fifth place went to Tom McAuley, Warren Haviland and Graham Tootell from Dapto with four wins and a margin of 73 shots and Ray Walter, Blake Bradtke and Nick Darius were sixth with four wins and a 48 shot margin.
Following lunch on Thursday the prizes were presented by representatives of three of the carnival sponsors – Geoff Connelly (Young Services Club), Matthew Hall and Narelle White (South West Slopes Credit Union) and Garry Cummins (Young Hotel).
Thanks to the tournament organisers and to greenkeeper Damien Miller and his assistants Geoff Holt and Geoff Hines for the excellent condition of the greens.

Play on Thursday afternoon saw fourteen players on the green. The highest margin was 8 shots for Ray Bourke and Colin Stokell.
Eighteen players took part on Saturday afternoon and Steven Walsh and Garry Trudgett won the vouchers with a 10 shot margin.
Twelve teams were involved on Tuesday night for the Guy Pickering Charity Challenge. The winners for the evening were RLOB Warriors with 16 points.
The winners for the Thursday night division were Criterion Hotel with 15 points and the leading teams there are Murringo 92.5 and Criterion Hotel 85 points.
Players are advised to check for details concerning a visit from Canberra bowlers, the annual presentation evening and the Fishing Club’s Christmas Bowls Day.
