After school the students from Young North Public School, Young Public School and St Mary's Primary School and their carers walk through the reserve at the back of Brock Street to get to the child care centre in Jimmy Noonan Close off Prospect Street.
Students and educators often notice what they describe as a fair bit of litter in that area on a regular basis, so the Monday afternoon children volunteered to glove up and give a bit of their time to tidy their town and give back to their great community.
With that Monday being such a hot afternoon the group gave it their all and could only do the area that they walked, but given the chance the children would have done the whole of the reserve.
Annette’s Place Child Care Centre said the children did this on their own accord and expected nothing in return, although the team at The Witness believe they deserve a big pat on the back for showing such pride in their town.
Their kindness doubles as a message for the community to make sure your rubbish goes in a bin.
