Groups representing trainers, jockeys and breeders are calling for federal government oversight of the multi-billion-dollar racing industry as tensions in the sector flare at an 11th-hour move to reinstall retiring NSW racing kingmaker John Messara on the board of the national regulator, Racing Australia.
