Though the weather was sunny, the turnout at Young Showjumping Club’s annual showjumping day wasn’t what organisers hoped it would be.

“There’s a lot of other things on,” organiser Pam Bennett said.
Nowra held a competition of their own over the weekend and Bribbaree Pony Club are holding their annual Pony Camp that started Saturday.
The Summer Showjumping Classic was held at Horsely Park in Sydney last week, which meant a lot of competitors would be out of action, resting horses after a big week of jumping.
Despite the small number of competitors, it by no means dampened spirits with plenty of tough competition in the rings.
Ring 2 was the most popular with young riders and young horses making the most of the chance to cut their teeth around the well constructed, yet challenging course. Course designers and judges, Peter and Michelle McComb, set up plenty of options and some tight turns that riders seemed to have enjoyed as they rode their rounds.
Ring 1 had a small but fiercely competitive field who were challenged by the course in the best of ways and kept Ring judge, Michael Archer on his toes. Course designer, Charl Archer threw down the gauntlet to riders. The jumps weren’t complex but with lots of bright colours, patterns, markings and fill there was plenty for the horses to look at as they took on the course and even the more experienced riders and horses had to work hard to jump clear rounds.
McDonalds, Hilltops Equine, FTS Financial Planners, Kirkup Racing and Giddy Up Gags and Bits were the sponsors for Ring 1, with horse and riders receiving ribbons and prizes in each event. Ring 2 events were all sponsored by Conquerer Milling of Cootamundra who supplied prizes to each winner in their events.
