TV years rarely pass uneventfully and this one had its significant moments and milestones. The battle between the commercial breakfast shows, Nine's Today and Seven's Sunrise, became so fierce that, when Nine claimed victory, Seven threatened legal action. Meanwhile, the ABC demonstrated that there was no limit to the number of times it could screen reruns of Q.I. and Antiques Roadshow, and SBS2 became Viceland. There was a healthy crop of local drama series, while in the realm of reality-TV, Ten happily didn't make a hash of its Survivor revival and My Kitchen Rules remained a ratings powerhouse.
