The 84-year-old's last words before being rushed to hospital were reportedly "I want to be with Carrie."
The immense sadness of the situation has not been lost on celebrities, who have now taken to social media, again, to pay their respects to both women.
Debra Messing, who played Reynolds' daughter on Will & Grace for years, tweeted that she was "heartsick" at the double tragedy.

Star Trek stars George Takei and William Shatner have also paid tribute, with Takei saying what many others are too – that Debbie "died of a broken heart".

But amid the terrible sadness, perhaps Mia Farrow said it best for a mother and daughter who were also the best of friends, and who will be missed most for their warmth, energy and cracking wit: "RIP doesn't sound right... I hope they're somewhere having fun."
