Teenagers arrested and charged after two armed robberies in Minto

Police allege the boys - aged 16 and 18 - were armed with a knife and a handgun, which they used to threaten employees at both shops before fleeing with cash.

On January 3, the pair allegedly entered the Crown Tandoori restaurant on Redfern Road in Minto.

Police allege Zain Hasthibeer, 18, was armed with a handgun when he walked into the back of the restaurant at 8.40pm, coming face-to-face with its owner, HM Tanvir.

CCTV shows Mr Tanvir preparing food in the kitchen, before he is confronted by a masked gunman and holds his hands up.

"The gunman, he was telling us 'If you move I'll shoot you'," Mr Tanvir told Seven News. "The chef was really scared, and he was shaking at that time.

"I was thinking 'just let them go'."

Footage shows the gunman pointing a pistol at Mr Tanvir and the chef, before they were forced into a refrigerated storeroom.

It's alleged the 16-year-old, who cannot be named, then walked into the front of the shop, where the pair demanded cash and fled with around $1500.

Three weeks earlier, police allege the pair also held up a fast food chain on Stonny Batter Road in Minto, armed again with a handgun and knife.

The pair allegedly threatened workers at the Subway sandwich shop at 8.30pm on December 16 before escaping with several hundred dollars.

Officers from Macquarie Fields began investigating the incidents, arresting a 16-year-old boy on Saturday.

He was charged with two counts of robbery while armed with a dangerous weapon.

The teen faced a Children's Court on Sunday, where he was refused bail. He will face court again next week.On Monday afternoon, police arrested Mr Hasthibeer after they searched a house on Cradle Way in Minto and allegedly found a replica pistol and clothing, which was seized.

The 18-year-old was charged with two counts of robbery while armed with a dangerous weapon.

He faced Campbelltown Local Court on Tuesday.
