With racing at Temora last Saturday night, many trainers have been well catered for as far as racing is concerned over the Christmas, New Year break and Young will conduct two meetings in January.
The first race is for the well performed C2/C3 and eligible C4 pacers which have not won more than $1,000 in their last four starts.
Last start, first up Dubbo winner Homestead Lad looks well placed to repeat the performance from an ideal draw and will have the services of in form driver Reece Maguire.
The winning mile rate of 1:59.4 was enough to suggest another win is certainly on the cards. Dangers appear to be the Wendy Turnbull trained pole marker Miles Above who won three starts back with back marker His A Tease who had no luck last time out to fill the minor placing.
Local trainer Troy Fletcher had no luck last time out with Mary’s Little Rose and with two impressive wins prior at Parkes and Wagga and should lead and win the second race of the night.
Leading driver Matt Rue will drive the vastly improved pacer and another win is not beyond a definite possibility.
The hardest to beat in the 2100 m event could well be Old Jack Cambo who rated 1:59.9 when winning at Parkes with Kyalla luke, That’s Fire Power and Mossdale Bill the best of the rest in what should be a great race.
Race three is a C4 or Better Pace over 2100 metres and with four last start winners engaged, all off the front line the final result could be interesting.
Driving tactics will play a major part, Think It Through liked to lead and gets his chance from gate one. He has won three from five, Young, Leeton and Wagga have been good for the locally bred pacer and Monique Parsons seems to be able to get the best out of the troublesome pacer.
Race four has an interesting runner in Justjoy for trainer Thomas Phillips.
Having had just the one winning start at Goulburn and although drawn badly the form would suggest another win could be on the cards.
In the fifth race of the night, Spanish Lustre looks the obvious choice following some good runs in harder company over recent weeks at Maitland.
Race six is once again a tricky affair, the Nathan Turnbull trained Givemtheslip was backed and ran fourth at Temora last week and will be improved by that run and could lead from gate two.
The final race of the night, race seven as an early scratching in Line My Pockets leaving a field of seven.
