The dedicated athlete competed in the 2016 World Master Games and the Pan Pacific Masters Games late last year.
Robinson will be competing in the 100 m, shot put, triple jump and 80 m hurdles at the championships this weekend and has high hopes to take out the events.
“I had a go at the Interclub last Thursday and came second and first in the B-grade event.” Robinson said.
Robinson first started competing for Young Little Athletics when she was 10. It wasn’t until she was 15 or 16 that she started training and competing as a representative.
The mother of two had at one stage been ranked second in the country and narrowly missed out on running in the 100 m sprint at the Sydney Olympics in 2000.
Robinson remembers her first taste of running.
“I was watching a junior rugby league game with my family and they called the boys up for a sprint race before the game,” she said.
“I asked my Dad why I couldn’t go in it. Then, I think my mum asked someone if I could enter.” It turns out she ended up beating all the boys.
Late last year Robinson claimed victory in both the 60 m and 100 m 40 – 44 years sprint events at the 10th biennial Jupiters Pan Pacific Masters held from November 5 to 13, 2016.
Not only is Robinson an athletics superstar, she is also a part-time school teacher and a mother to two children.
“I think one of the biggest things is mother guilt but then I think I’m stretching myself and putting myself out there,” Robinson said.
Now living and training in Singleton with her husband and children all of their family is back in Young making Robinson’s determination and focus on her training even more impressive.
Another of Robinson’s passions is her other job as a mind coach. Robinson runs a Strong Runner page on Facebook where she shares plenty of physical and emotional tips not just for runners but for anyone wanting to reach their goals.
Robinson’s mindset coaching has only just started but already it has seen her work with some junior players at the Newcastle Knights.
