The union that represents postal workers claims Australia Post executives are to blame for Christmas gift parcels not arriving until after Christmas Day.

Some disappointed local residents are claiming Australia Post failed to deliver their Christmas parcels in time for the big day.
Others claim drivers did not try hard enough to deliver parcels and dumped them at the local post office.
Communication, Electrical and Plumbing Union (CEPU) spokesperson Shane Murphy said Australia Post drivers were under enormous pressure to deliver parcels at Christmas time.
"When the heat's on at Christmas time, there's only so many hours in the day," he said.
“Customers are understandably angry, and so are our members.
"Postal workers did their best to deliver for the kids and families who were waiting for their parcels on Christmas Day within the constraints of a senior management group obsessed with cost cutting — affecting services, particularly in rural areas."
Mr Murphy said poor planning and bad decisions by Australia Post's executive group led to customers paying a premium price for a poor service.
“If people are angry they shouldn’t be taking it out on the drivers, " he said.
Local resident Heather McKenzie was one of many people who complained to the Witness that their parcels were late.
"My sister sent me a parcel from Western Australia well before Christmas and it did not arrive until early in the new year," she said.
"That would have to be the longest time that it has taken for anything to arrive from Western Australia.
"We were a bit disappointed."
Mr Murphy said the union have also received many complaints from regional, rural and metro Australia Post customers.
“This debacle is a direct result of the Australia Post CEO and his executives being more worried about delivering their Christmas bonus rather than delivering the public’s Christmas parcels on time,” he said.
But an Australia Post spokesperson said they have had no complaints of delivery delays in Young.
"Our parcel network has performed extremely well over the Christmas period," the spokesperson said.
"We can confirm there were no delivery delays within the Young area; if customers have any concerns or questions, they can contact us on 13 POST."
