Predicted weather conditions for tomorrow, Wednesday 18 January 2017 have resulted in a Total Fire Ban being declared for the Local Government Areas of Hilltops and Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Councils.
The NSW Rural Fire Service South West Slopes Zone Fire Control Officer Andrew Dillon is reminding residents in these communities that if you see smoke, ring 000 immediately.
Under a Total Fire Ban Declaration:
- No fire may be lit in the open.
- No general purpose welding, grinding, soldering or gas cutting can be done in the open.
- All fire permits are suspended - This includes incinerators and barbecues (BBQ) which burn solid fuel, e.g. wood, charcoal or heat beads.
Failure to comply with Total Fire Ban Regulations will likely result in an action being taken against offenders.
