The Young Indoor Bowling Club wishes for interested people to know that indoor bowls is a very inexpensive sport to join and play.
Young Indoor Bowling Club has a very friendly group of members and their game sessions are filled with fun and laughter – in addition to what they have called spectacular bowling.
The Young Indoor Bowling Club play each Wednesday night in the auditorium of the Young Services Club.
Names are required to be submitted by 6.30 pm for a 7.00 pm start with play usually concluding around 9.30 pm.
In July, 2016 the club lost a long-time member in Gerry Galvan when he passed away suddenly.
Gerry was a skillful and experienced bowler having played for more than 40 years with various clubs, the last one being the Young Indoor Bowling Club.
In Gerry’s memory his wife Wilma has subsequently donated a perpetual trophy to the Young Indoor Bowling Club to recognise the Indoor Bowler of the Year.
Although the trophy will live at the Young Indoor Bowling Club, the winner of the award will receive an individual trophy as a memento of their acknowledgement.
In addition to the trophy, the Young Indoor Bowling Club President Bob Martin and his wife Heather will donate an annual medallion to be awarded to the Most Improved Bowler.
Young Indoor Bowling Club member Valerie Parv was the 2016 inaugural winner of the Gerry Galvan Trophy.
New bowler to the Young Indoor Bowling Club Carolyn Windsor was the recipient of the Most Improved award for 2016.
The Young Indoor Bowling Club would be delighted to welcome new members who would like to try their hand at indoor bowling.
“You never know – you just might be the next bowler to receive one of our new trophies,” a club representative said.
