Racing opened with the Wyalong trained Alabama Tyson, driven by Rodney Lemon, putting in a strong finishing effort to come from fifth at the bell to score a one metre win.
Undoubtedly, the win of the night was that of the Michael Prest trained Concertina.
Paying a massive $74.20 on the NSW TAB win tote. Competently driven by Young driver Nic Dewar, the winner held off a strong challenge from Givemtheslip and in doing so recorded a mile rating of 1:58.9 for the 1720 m race.
Reece Maguire drove a patient race to secure an inside run with the Greg Coney trained Toorim Lad in race three.
Sitting behind the leader he took advantage of an opportunity to sneak up the inside over the concluding stages of the race.
A winning margin of 1.5 m sufficiently enabled Toorim Lad to record his sixth win for his delighted owners.
The $1.70 Cris Frisby trained Uncle John, driven by Matt Rue recorded a narrow neck winning margin over Itcanhappen and Pinegrove for Emma Turnbull.
A winning margin of just a neck kept the crowd on their toes as the gelding made the tenth win of his career.
Riverina driver Cameron Hart had Corrinyah Conman well placed at the bell to record a convincing 5½ metre win over Essbee Doubleyou in race four on the program.
Bathurst trainer and driver Greg Rue showed how it’s done in race six with the Robin Hood mare Taylor Robin leading throughout to defeat Taylah Studleigh and Spooky Dreams.
A slight fall of rain and a cooling breeze prior to the running of race seven brought some relief from the heat and backers found their own when Pretty Hot delivered the goods for Bathurst driver Douglass Hewitt. Hewitt came from fourth at the bell to finish strongly.
Canberra freelance driver Scott Osmond took charge of the Peter Trevor Jones filly Im All Courage in the final race of the night. Osmond allowed the leader, Show Some Faith, to control the early pace. The winning margin of a nose in favour of Im All Courage was a fitting end to an exciting and entertaining night of racing.
Young will race again next Tuesday night, February 7.
