In the District Fours the club had three teams entered and all have qualified for the semi–finals. On Saturday morning Dave Quigley’s team defeated Peter Colvin’s team and they then defeated Arthur Ward’s team in the afternoon.
In the afternoon games Graeme Edgerton’s team defeated Robert Anderson’s team and Cliff Traynor’s team defeated Jim Deacon’s team.
Club Singles
Eleven games of Club Singles were completed from Thursday through to Sunday.
The results were: Damien Miller defeated Colin Parker 31–11; Peter Slater defeated Garry Fish 31–28; Justin Nowlan defeated Harold Anderson 31–30; Albert Carter defeated Stuart Freudenstein 31–15; Joe Chamber defeated Ian Gailey 31–7; Colin Powell defeated Colin Stokell 31–25; James Maloney defeated Denis Rosen 31–14; Brian Madden defeated Mick Manning 31–22; Terry Mulligan defeated Alan Gall 31–14; Bill Maloney defeated James Freudenstein 31–23 and Tom Preston defeated Ian Schofield 31–17.
Jackpot Bowls
Eight players were involved in Jackpot bowls on Saturday.
David Donges and Kevin Porter did well to win their game by 20 shots but the Penrose Funerals sponsored vouchers went to Ted Loader and Joe Bargwanna who won by 31 shots.
There were 30 players for Thursday afternoon bowls.
David Donges and John Cooper won the vouchers for the afternoon with a margin of 20 shots.
The Guy Pickering Charity Challenge commenced on Tuesday 31st January.
Tuesday night’s winning team was ARMA Fabrications with 16 points.
The 3G Mac Attack team also had 16 points to be the winners on Thursday night.
Sunday morning bowls saw 12 players taking part. The best score for the morning was 14 points for the combination of Harry Long, Roger Allen and Tim Carpenter.
Tonight a different format for bowls will be played at the club. This is called Jack Attack and is designed to introduce people with little or no experience to the game.
Play will start at 7.00 pm and last for approximately 90 minutes. Teams of three players will take part and the teams can consist of all adults, all children or a mixture of adults and children.
Four games of Club Singles are scheduled for Saturday afternoon and all the details are on the notice–board.
Teams from Young will travel to Cowra on Sunday to play in the 2LF Challenge. Transport will leave from the club at 8.30 am and players must be on the bus by 8.20 am. Entries for the District Triples close tonight at 6.00 pm.
